History

 I grew up in Northern Michigan and moved to Ohio in 1986.  I have been a member of the Ohio Bar since November 9, 1992.  I was admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio, in 2005.   My focus has been in workers' compensation, representing employers throughout the State of Ohio in court and administrative proceedings.  I've represented many industries including temporary employment, retail and wholesale food processing, light and heavy manufacturing, interstate trucking, gas and petroleum processing and transportation, charitable organizations, as well as commercial and private health care facilities.  I've handled thousands of administrative matters at the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation and before the Industrial Commission of Ohio. I have successfully handled court matters involving various claim-related issues through the trial level of Common Pleas Court.  I have prevailed in Mandamus actions in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Ohio as both Relator and Respondent.

Employment
I began my career as a paralegal at Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP from 1986-1992. I attended and graduated from law school while employed in that capacity. I continued working at Buckingham, Doolittle & Burrroughs as an associate attorney from 1993-1999 and later joined Hanna, Campbell & Powell, LLP as an associate at its founding in 1999.  I continued on as a partner from 2006 through 2022.  Having worked at two prestigious large and mid-sized firms my entire career, I decided to open my own office and enjoy the experience of a more personal practice.


Education
In 1986, I graduated cum laude from Lake Superior State College in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan with both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and an Associate Degree in Legal Assistant Studies.  I graduated from University of Akron School of Law in Akron, Ohio in 1992 with my Juris Doctor Degree.  While attending law school, I wrote for Law Review in 1991-1992
